Center Director
Craig Jones, PhD
Dr. Craig K. Jones is a distinguished researcher and expert in the application of artificial intelligence, data science, and computer vision techniques to medical imaging data. Currently serving as Director of CAMAI and head of the Imaging Lab, Dr. Jones simultaneously holds an appointment as Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University. His research encompasses innovative approaches to medical image analysis, with particular focus on uncertainty quantification in AI models, automated segmentation algorithms, and the development of deep learning frameworks for various medical imaging modalities including MRI, CT, and ophthalmological imaging. Dr. Jones maintains joint appointments across multiple departments at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutes, including Ophthalmology, Radiology, and Gastroenterology, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration and clinical translation of his research. His academic foundation was established at Simon Fraser University, where he earned a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computing Science, followed by a Master of Science from the University of Western Ontario and a doctorate in Physics from the University of British Columbia, where his research focused on computation processing and advanced MRI techniques.
